CHÂTEAU DE CANDÉ

This lovely renaissance chateau built on top of a hill overlooking the Domaine de Candé is well worth a visit.  The chateau dates back to 1499 when the mayor of Tours purchased the property and built a renaissance house. The property was acquired by Charles Bedaux a Franco-American industrialist in 1927 who gave the house an art deco make-over and was the reason why the mar  was used for the marriage of the Duke of Windsor (formerly King Edward VIII), and Wallis Simpson in 1937 following his abdication.
